Its
all in Black and White
This
section is like a blog to why I have done what I have done with
this story. Read on if you're interested.
If
you have a question, please email
me.
Why
are the characters so opposite from the original series?
Why is Vegeta Jr is a smart boy? Why is he blessed with
a kinder personality than his ancestor? Why is Shin
Piccolo the way he is? How about the others?
In
my opinion, I hate to read fan fictions that deal with repetition.
Its already been done. I would like to read something
different. of course there are exceptions, depending on
what you are writing about. For instance, if your story is
about Kuririn or Android 16, you follow their personality
because its original.
If
you want to stuff this down my neck and say "I can write
what I think!," go ahead. This is my opinion. I
have read some fan fiction that reject what I think, and they definitely
done a good job of writing it. Remember what the
question I'm answering here.
I
just find it more interesting if the characters are different,
not another carbon copy unless it says so in the anime or manga,
like Bura for instance.
No
same attacks, no same copies
How many fighters were identified with having the Kame
Hame Ha technique? What about the Genki dama (Spirit
Bomb)? The Fusion technique? Do I want to use the
same old attacks in DBNG?
Boring!
Out of thin air, I wouldn't give the fan fiction characters the
same attacks the original characters all had. One
exception though...if it makes sense for them to have it, then
they will have it. For example, it makes total sense for
Gokou Jr to be able to do Kame Hame Ha because Son Pan can teach
him. She was from the original, and its official that she
knows this attack.
It'll
be more interesting to have new attacks, that also can do new
things...the idea hasn't been used. Upgrading to another
form and absorption is a typical one by the enemies isn't
it? I have to say DBZGT begins to repeat after a while in
its ideas. Its not like Sailor Moon at all. Its
harder to work with, but Akira Toriyama worked well with
it. No arguments there.
Some
things just have to be used, but if you can think of new things
to add, it's an asset to the story.
At
the moment, I am accepting submissions from people about attacks
for the characters in DBNG. I can refuse it, but if I
decide to use it, yeah. I'll say who thought of it, no
worries.
