Chapter 40 - Gokou's First Love

It was a tough day at work, and Gokou tried to relax a little.  It was frustrating, but he had to meet the deadlines.  The magazine was to be released in a week, and he had to complete the final designs to use on his latest photographs.  He soon came across a picture he taken of the ocean, and the thought of Art sprang to his mind.  Gokou thought about meeting her young brother, Pesto, yesterday, and wondered if she wasn't interested in him.

It was his break off, and so Gokou had a fast lunch and headed back to the cliff which he often thought about.  There were no signs of Art, and once again he walked off disappointed when he saw her walk off in the distance.  Quickly he ran up to her, calling her name.
"Oh Gokou, what a surprise!" she beamed.
"How are you?" Gokou asked.
"Fine" she replied, "But I have work to do right now."
She pointed to the art gallery in town.
"I'm suppose to unveil my latest painting tonight at 7pm.  Plenty to prepare for.  Hey, would you like to come tonight?"
Gokou smiled.
"Of course."
"Bring your friends!" she called as she walked off waving.

Gokou asked his friends, but they were all busy.  The only ones who were free were Gokun and his cousin Pastri.  They were dressed nice, and headed to the gallery.  There were many people walking around, admiring the many kinds of art.  Pastri and Gokun didn't find it that exciting.  Pastri had also brought her boyfriend along too.  His name was Refere, a year older than Pastri, and he worked as a salesman.  He was a nice guy, and easy to get along with.  Refere wasn't afraid of Pastri's and her friends power at all, so it was like destiny to Pastri, yet he wasn't keen in taking up the martial arts at all.
Pastri and walked off with Refere, and left Gokou and Gokun behind.  Gokou looked around.
"Where's Art?"
"Who's that?" Gokun questioned.
"A girl...friend I met a few days ago."
All of a sudden, Pesto jumped up behind him.
"Gokou-san!"
"Hi Pesto"
Gokou introduced Pesto to his friend, and they talked for a while.  The young boy wasn't fascinated with the arts, but only came along since his mother made him.
"Where's your sister?" Gokou asked.
"I'll take you guys over there."
Pesto led the two into another room where Art was talking with her mother.  Pesto told Art about her friends, and she welcomed them.  She introduced her mother to them, and her older sister, Painta.  However, she wasn't around.  Rather she was sitting on a chair with her earphones on and reading a magazine.
Gokou and Gokun smiled.
Soon Pastri and Refere turned up and they were also introduced.
"It's nice to finally meet you Art" Pastri said.
"You're paintings are amazing." Refere told her.
"Yeah, I've never seen anything like it.  I've been fascinated with them ever since I saw them." Gokou complimented.
Art giggled.
The two talked for a bit, and Gokun watched on before realizing something.  It made his laugh under his breath.

When Gokou and Gokun were alone, Gokun asked him.
"What's the deal?"
"What'll you mean?"
"Art.  You like her don't you?"
Gokou glowed red.
"I knew it!" Gokun laughed, "I can read you like a book Gokou.  Have you asked her out yet?"
"Um, no..." Gokou said, "I don't think she likes me."
"Come on.  I saw the chemistry." Gokun poked fun.

It was getting later in the night, and people were eating.  Gokou and Pesto were busy eating everything in sight, when Painta came from behind.
"You're Art's new friend right?"
Gokou had his mouth full, and nodded.
"Shame.  How come Art didn't introduce us?"
"She did, but you-" Pesto was quick to interrupt, before he was cut short by her.
"Well I'm Painta."
"Hi, nice to meet you." Gokou smiled.
"You and Art aren't more than friends right?"
The question made Gokou freeze in surprise.
"I don't think so..."
"That's good.  Dad would have something to say to you." she laughed and walked off.
Gokou turned to Pesto.
"Hey, what does she mean by that?"
"Its nothing." Pesto told him, "Art-"
Art then turned up and took the two by the shoulder.
"Gokou, I would like you to meet someone."
A tall man then walked up wearing a sharp tuxedo.  He looked like a successful business man.
"This is my boyfriend.  His name is Suite"
The man smiled and shook Gokou's hand, who looked in shock at the tall man.
"Nice to meet you..." Gokou managed to say.
Gokun was watching from a distance away, and shook his head.
"Not good Gokou."

"Suite runs the 2nd most wealthy company in the world." Art explained to Gokou, who just continued to stare at Suite.
"That's great to hear." he finally said.
"Well, lets go get something to eat now Art." Suite said, and he led her away as Gokou watched and Pesto glared.
"I hate him." Pesto murmured.
"Did he do something?"
"I don't think he cares much for my sister.  I don't want to sound like a softy, but I think he's two-faced."
Gokou nodded.
"They've been going out together for a few months." Pesto added, "Too bad he ain't cool like you Gokou-san." he joked.
"Does Art really like him?"
"Don't know.  Why ask me?  Dad really likes him though.  He's a professional and he's damn rich."

The night finally came to a close, and everyone said their goodbyes.
"It was nice to see you and your friends making it tonight" Art told Gokou.
"No problem."
"I'll see you some other time then."
"Count on it."

Pastri and Refere took a car home, as Gokun and Gokou flew back.  It was a quiet flight back.  Nothing was said apart from Gokun.
"Tough ain't it?"
